Why does a Siamese cat's coat color change?

The fur color of Siamese cats changes with temperature and age. The lower the temperature, the darker the color of Siamese cats will be, and the higher the temperature, the whiter (lighter) the color will be. Usually, kittens are born white because the womb is very warm. As they grow, their fur color will change from pure white to light brown, and then the fur color will begin to darken in the nose, ears, tail, and limb pads where the body temperature is lower. Some Siamese cats have their entire face dyed dark brown, while the parts of the body with higher body temperature remain light brown or grayish white.

The four traditional colors of Siamese cats:

1. Seal key color. The coat is cream yellow, the pattern on the body is seal color, and the key color is dark seal color. Seal key color is the most common color of Siamese cats, which is also the original color of Siamese cats. As the temperature gets colder, the head, limbs, tail and part of the body of the seal key Siamese cat will gradually turn black.

2. Blue key color. The body is white, gradually turning light blue from the back, and the key color is blue-gray with blue spots.

3. Chocolate Key Color. The body is white and the key color is chocolate. The biggest feature of the Chocolate Key is that only the nose, limbs and the base of the tail will turn black (chocolate color), and the rest of the body will be pure white, instead of becoming completely black or gray like the Seal Key and Blue Key.

4. Lilac key color. The body is light peach with beige, the key color is slightly pink gray, the chest and chin are white, and the tail is allowed to have slight markings, but it is not allowed to be dark.
