CATDOLL: Why did the mother cat only take one of the kittens away?

The mother cat moves with the kittens in her mouth to protect her kittens. This is a common phenomenon after the mother cat gives birth to kittens. After living in one place for a period of time, there will always be some smell left, which is very dangerous in the wild. Therefore, even if there is no obvious disturbance now, the mother cat will try to change the place. This is the instinct of the mother cat.

When a mother cat has just given birth, we should not hold the kittens. Sometimes the human smell is too strong and the mother cat will reject the kitten. Give them a separate space as much as possible and don't let other animals in the house approach them, especially male cats. Mother cats are more sensitive.

Although you think you are safe at home, the mother cat is not aware of this, so she still instinctively wants to find a safer place. This is a manifestation of the cat's strong maternal instinct. If you want to change the mother cat's anxiety, you can try to thoroughly clean its original nest and try to remove the odor. It is recommended to build a new nest for it and the kittens at home. It is best to have a certain amount of cover and light-proof measures for the new nest, which will give them a greater sense of security.

This is set in the genes, in the wild. Cats give birth to kittens, in order to avoid being discovered by other animals. Generally, they have to move 3-4 times, but the nest where the kittens are born is the most hidden, and then gradually move to a place with food, during which time they will teach the kittens some survival skills, and wait for 2-3 months before the kittens have the ability to hunt and survive. They will drive away the kittens to survive independently, because the mother cat herself has a very hard time surviving. It's not that they don't love kittens.
