What should I do if I am bitten by a centipede?

Centipede belongs to the class Myriapoda. The first pair of legs are hooked and sharp. There is a poison gland opening at the tip of the hook, generally called palatine teeth, tooth claws or poison limbs, which can excrete venom. After being bitten by a centipede, its venom glands secrete a large amount of venom, which is injected into the subcutaneous tissue of the bitten person through the venom gland opening of the palatine teeth and causes poisoning.

Clinical manifestations:

Small centipede bites only cause local swelling and pain, while tropical large centipede bites can cause lymphangitis and tissue necrosis, sometimes with purpura of the entire limb. Some may also experience systemic symptoms such as headache, fever, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and even slurred speech, convulsions, and coma.

Emergency treatment:

After being bitten by a centipede, wash the wound with soapy water immediately, apply cold wet compress to the wound, or apply houttuynia cordata or dandelion. If you have systemic symptoms, go to the hospital immediately. Scorpions sting arachnids. When a scorpion stings a person, the venom glands secrete venom into the human body, which quickly causes a series of poisoning reactions.

Emergency treatment:

|Tighten the wound with a cloth band 2 to 3 cm above the injured limb, and relax for 1 to 2 minutes every 15 minutes. Apply ice compresses around the wound, cut the skin of the wound, suck out the venom with a suction device or cupping, and use potassium permanganate solution or lime water to wash the wound. Those with severe symptoms should go to the hospital for treatment. Active treatment is recommended for centipede bites, and the impact on the fetus depends on the severity of the bite.

【treat】

1. Immediately apply 0.5% to 1% procaine or 1% emetine for local sealing to relieve pain and prevent further spread of the venom.

2. Apply 3% ammonia water or 5% sodium bicarbonate solution topically. Generally, wet compress is not necessary to prevent blisters.

3. You can use Ji Desheng snake medicine and Ruyi Jinhuang powder and apply them to the affected area.

4. When systemic symptoms are obvious, antihistamines and snake medicine tablets can be used. When severe poisoning symptoms appear, timely rescue is required.
