Danish marine fish speciesAccording to the different fishing methods and regions, Danish capture fisheries can be divided into two categories: nearshore demersal fisheries and offshore pelagic fisheries. The fishing grounds of nearshore demersal fisheries are mainly located in the North Sea, Skagerrak, Kattegat and Baltic Sea. Offshore pelagic fisheries mainly refer to the fishing of pelagic fish in the waters off Denmark or other EU countries, such as herring and mackerel in the North Sea and western waters (western British Isles) and blue cod in western waters. The Danish capture fishery catches three main categories of fish: One is the fish used for fishmeal and fish oil industry, such as sand eel, Norwegian cod, blue whiting and sprat in the North Sea, sprat in the Skagerrak, Kattegat and Baltic Sea. The second type is ocean fish for food, mainly herring and mackerel that are landed in cans or whole fish. The third is white fish, including cod, hake, haddock, whiting and saithe; flatfish, including sole, plaice and flounder, as well as lobsters and crabs, which are the main bottom fish caught. |
