CATDOLL: How many legs does a centipede have?

Common centipedes have 20 pairs of legs and 40 legs; medicinal centipedes have 21 pairs of legs and 42 legs; centipedes and stone centipedes have 15 pairs of legs and 30 legs. Some centipedes have many and short legs, some have 35 pairs of legs and 70 legs, some have 45 pairs of legs and 90 legs, and the largest number is 191 pairs of legs and 382 legs.

The centipede is flat and long, 9-17 cm long and 0.5-1 cm wide. The whole body consists of 22 segments, and the last segment is slightly smaller. The two segments of the head are dark red, with a pair of antennae and poison hooks; the back is brown-green or dark green, shiny, and has two longitudinal ridges; the abdomen is light yellow or brown-yellow, wrinkled; from the second segment onwards, each segment has a pair of legs, born on both sides, yellow or reddish brown, curved into a hook shape. The texture is brittle, with cracks on the cross section. The smell is slightly fishy and has a special pungent odor. The taste is spicy and slightly salty. The quality is better when the body is dry, the insect body is long and complete, and the head is red and the body is green.
