CATDOLL: Can mantis shrimp be raised in fresh water? How to breed it?

Mantis shrimp cannot be kept alive in fresh water, because they are marine organisms, they live in seawater, and have adapted to the marine environment. If they are placed in fresh water, they cannot last too long, and they are likely to die because they are not adapted. If you want to use fresh water to breed mantis shrimp, you need to add some sea salt or sea water essence to the fresh water so that the mantis shrimp can grow normally. 1. Can mantis shrimp be kept alive in fresh water? Mantis shrimp cannot be kept alive in fresh water, because they are organisms living in seawater, and they are mainly distributed in warm waters and have completely adapted to the environment of seawater. If mantis shrimp are placed in fresh water, it is difficult for them to adapt to the fresh water environment. Under normal circumstances, if mantis shrimp are placed in fresh water, they will die after a maximum of about 1 hour. If there is no sea water, some sea salt or sea water essence can be added to the fresh water for artificial breeding of mantis shrimp so that the mantis shrimp can survive.

2. How to farm mantis shrimp 1. Water quality: As mentioned above, mantis shrimp are marine organisms, and seawater is needed to farm them. If conditions permit, it is best to choose natural seawater. If natural seawater is not available, you can add some sea salt or seawater essence to fresh water. If you want to farm in large quantities, you still need to choose a location close to the ocean.

2. Water temperature: Mantis shrimp like to grow in a warm environment, and the water temperature needs to be kept above 20°C when artificially cultivated. If the water temperature is low, they may experience more discomfort and death.

3. Feeding: Mantis shrimp can eat a lot of food. When artificially cultivated, they can be fed with earthworms, animal offal, minced meat, etc. They can be fed twice a day, and the best time for each feeding is early morning and evening.

4. Oxygen: Mantis shrimps need more oxygen. When they are artificially cultured, an oxygen pump needs to be installed to ensure that there is enough oxygen in the water. However, the oxygen content does not need to be too high, and it can be kept at 5ml per liter of water.
