How to prevent Escherichia coli disease in laying hens?

Escherichia coli disease in laying hens is a type of disease caused by certain serotypes of Escherichia coli, mainly including Escherichia coli sepsis, yolk peritonitis, Escherichia coli granuloma, etc. If not treated in time, it will cause significant economic losses.

Prevention and control measures:

1. Strengthen the control of breeding egg contamination: Transmission through eggs is an important way of spreading this disease. Eggs should be collected and fumigated in time in the breeding farm. Breeding eggs with serious contamination should not be selected as breeding eggs. Breeding eggs with light contamination of feces can be scraped clean with a razor blade, but must not be washed with water.

2. Choose safe and effective drugs for opening the chicks: Drink drugs that control E. coli and mycoplasma for 4 consecutive days after the chicks enter the chicks. One-stop enterprises with conditions should screen weak chicks in the hatchery and isolate E. coli for drug sensitivity tests. Strive to use highly sensitive, low-toxic and side-effect drugs with high bioavailability as opening drugs, which is of great significance for controlling E. coli disease in chicks. If there are no conditions for drug sensitivity tests in chicken farms, you can choose Jinmeikang (silver yellow soluble powder) or Yimeiqiang (ciprofloxacin soluble powder), both of which are diluted with 200 kg of water for every 100 grams, drink twice a day, 3 to 4 hours each time, and drink continuously for 3-5 days.

3. Strengthen health management: Feed, drinking water and air are the main transmission media of this disease. The treatment of feces and the disinfection and purification of chicken house air should be strengthened.

Remove feces, clean the chicken house effectively, and regularly use 1:400 times of Haoyijie (Povidone Iodine) to disinfect with chickens. Clean the water tank and water supply pipes regularly, especially after the soluble powder medicine is applied. The drinking fountain should be cleaned at least once a day. If the number of bacteria in the drinking water exceeds the standard, it can be eliminated with 1:2000 times of Haoyijie (Povidone Iodine).
