1. Pond treatment

(1) Before stocking fish fry, clean up the debris at the bottom of the pond.

(2) Use 25kg of quicklime, or 5kg of bleaching powder, or 20kg of tea seed bran mixed with water per acre of pond and sprinkle it throughout the pond.

(3) After 7 days of disinfection, test the water. If it is safe, you can start stocking the seedlings.

2. Free range

(1) For a pond with a water depth of about 1.5 m, stock 10,000 to 15,000 fry (about 3 cm in length) per mu.

(2) In the initial stage of stocking, use a dense net to enclose a 5-8 square meter "small pond" beside the pond and cultivate it in shallow water for about 10-15 days.

(3) As the fry grow, gradually deepen the water level and then remove the dense net.

3. Feeding

(1) Catfish are mainly fed with animal feed. At the beginning, they are fed with water fleas, earthworms, or compound feed made of fish meal and silkworm pupae. When catfish grow up, they are fed with cooked and chopped animal viscera, miscellaneous fish, shrimp, etc.

(2) The daily feeding amount is about 8-10% of the catfish's body weight, and it should be fed 2-3 times a day.

4. Management

(1) Change the water 1-2 times a week, each time replacing one-quarter to one-half of the pool water.

(2) During the breeding process, use quicklime or bleaching powder to spray the entire pond once every 15 days or so for disinfection.

2. What is the appropriate breeding density of catfish?

1. The stocking density depends on the expected output, the size of the fry, the breeding model, the management level and other factors.

2. If it is a pure pond breeding model, 10,000 to 15,000 catfish fry (body length is about 3 cm) are released per acre of pond.

3. If it is a pond polyculture model, 150-200 catfish fry are released per acre of pond, and the fish size is 200/kg.

4. In the model of catfish farming in rice fields, if the summer flower fish species of the current year are released, 40-60 catfishes are released per mu of land; if the catfish species weighing more than 50g are released, 200-400 catfishes are released per mu of land.
