Origin

Cichlids are native to tropical Central and South America, Africa and the West Indies. They have been introduced to all parts of the world because of their high ornamental value. Today, they are the most common exotic fish species in tropical and subtropical regions. Among them, the cichlids living in the three major lakes in central Africa (the three major lakes in Africa refer to Lake Tanganyika, Lake Malawi and Lake Victoria) have become the best choice for ornamental fish species because of their ever-changing colors, strong physique, elegant body shape and superb adaptability to water and soil. This is the three-lake cichlid we are familiar with. In fact, more than 700 species of Cichlid fish have been discovered on the African continent. In addition to the three-lake cichlids, there are also many non-three-lake cichlids. Except for the extreme northwest and non-southern regions, their figures can be seen almost everywhere. A relatively large rock-dwelling cichlid with a maximum body length of 14 cm. Its scientific name is named in memory of Mr. Misha Fainzilber, a German who is engaged in the ornamental fish industry. The teeth on their outer jaws are "three-pointed teeth", which are a feature that can be seen in Petrochromis, Maylandia (Metriaclima) zebra.
