CATDOLL : Can cats eat sweets?

Can cats eat sweets?

Cats cannot eat sweets. Cats are naturally insensitive to sweetness and do not have a special preference for sweets. Feeding a large amount of sweets will increase the burden on the cat's digestive system. Some cats will experience gastrointestinal discomfort, and in severe cases, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. If a cat eats too much sugar at one time, it will increase the burden on its metabolism and cause kidney failure. In addition, cats who consume too much sugar are prone to obesity and the health of their teeth will also be affected. In addition, cream-based substances can easily cause cats to suffer from diseases such as pancreatitis and fatty liver, and chocolate can easily cause cats to be poisoned.

Cat's daily diet precautions:

1. Leftover food will rot and breed bacteria, causing diarrhea. If there is leftover food, put it in the refrigerator and wash the tableware. Cats have short muzzles, so the tableware should not be too deep.

2. Foods that make cats sick should not be fed to cats, such as chocolate, onions, bones, grapes, etc.

3. Cats are different from humans. They have almost no salivary amylase secretion. Only amylase secreted by the pancreas and epithelial cell brush border membrane enzymes can digest carbohydrates such as starch. However, these enzymes are low in content and activity and cannot digest carbohydrates in large quantities.

4. The cat's urinary system cannot allow too much salt, but inorganic salts, as indispensable inorganic substances in life, are impossible not to ingest. Necessary salts are necessary for the cat's life activities.
