CATDOLL : I changed the cat litter but the cat doesn't use it, what should I do?

Reasons why cats don’t use new cat litter:

1. The cat litter no longer has the familiar smell of the cat. The cat feels that it is not its territory and is therefore unwilling to go there.

2. The texture of the new cat litter is different from the one used before, which makes cats difficult to adapt to.

3. Cats don’t like the smell of the cat litter, or feel that the cat litter feels bad and is uncomfortable to use.

The solution if you changed the cat litter but the cat doesn't use it:

1. Mix cat excrement into cat litter, and the cat will follow the smell when it wants to defecate.

2. You can mix the original cat litter with the new cat litter and use them for a period of time. Let the cat adapt for a period of time and then replace it little by little.

3. Change to odorless cat litter or cat litter that makes the cat feel more comfortable. Do not choose cat litter with irritating odor and high dust content.

4. Move the new litter box to a quiet and secluded location. When a cat is frightened by a loud noise or harassed by other pets, it may refuse to use the litter box.

5. Place some toys that your cat likes next to the litter box. Place the toys near the litter box to make your cat interested in this place.

6. Keep the litter box clean at all times. If the cat likes to defecate on the side of the litter box, the cat will not use it even if the box is very dirty. Clean the clumping cat litter at least once a day and replace it with clean cat litter.
