How often should domestic cats be dewormed?

Usually cats are dewormed when they are 2 months old. It is generally divided into external deworming and internal deworming. External deworming is done every 3 to 6 months, depending on the environment in which the cat lives. It mainly removes external parasites such as fleas, lice, and mites. Internal deworming is divided into two stages. Children under 1 year old should be dewormed every 3 months, and children over 1 year old should be dewormed every 6 months. It mainly removes parasites in the digestive system such as tapeworms and roundworms.

What should you pay attention to when deworming cats?

1. Deworming cats should be done regularly, about once a month. Cats are the final hosts of many parasites. Depending on the type of parasite, the growth cycle may be half a month or even as short as a week, so deworming once a month is absolutely necessary.

2. Pay attention to the cat's mental state after deworming. After deworming, some cats with weak stomachs and poor physical fitness will experience symptoms such as vomiting, lack of energy, and even fever. Generally, these symptoms will improve in 1 to 2 days. If this situation persists for several days, it is best to consult a doctor.

3. Do not use flea collars for external deworming. Most flea collars are made of dichlorvos, which is highly toxic and very harmful to cats.
