Is carp a carnivorous fish?

Carp is a bottom-dwelling omnivorous fish that eats both meat and vegetables. It has a wide range of food sources, a well-developed snout, and often digs mud to feed. Carp is also a low-level cold-blooded animal, whose body temperature changes with the water temperature. It does not need to consume energy to maintain a constant body temperature, so the total amount of food it needs to eat is not large. At the same time, carp, like most freshwater fish, is a stomachless fish, and has a short and thin intestine and a fast metabolism, so its feeding habits are to eat less and eat more frequently. The digestive function of carp is closely related to the water temperature, and its feeding is very seasonal.

Carp breeding methods

1. Select fish fry. Carp fry should be healthy, disease-free, swim happily, and have no internal or external injuries for breeding and management. Selecting good fish species can increase the survival rate of carp breeding and reduce losses.

2. Feeding. The amount of feed should be controlled flexibly according to the weather, water temperature and the fish's feeding situation. Carp generally like to eat sweet and fragrant grain baits, such as pure grains. The fish species grows particularly fast in the early stage, and their body length and weight increase rapidly, requiring more feed. At this time, feeding should be strengthened, and feeding with grain-based feed is better.

3. Water quality management. In the early stage of breeding, water is mainly added, and in the middle and late stages of breeding, water is mainly replaced. The amount of water replacement should be controlled at about 20%. The water quality changes should be observed at any time and adjusted to prevent the changes in water quality from causing hypoxia and death.

4. Disease prevention and control. In the breeding process, as long as the fish body is not damaged, there are few diseases. If Saprolegniasis occurs during the breeding period, it is necessary to strengthen water quality management, prevent water quality aging, and feed bait mixed with garlic, which can effectively prevent the occurrence of diseases.

5. Daily management. Check the fish pond three or four times a day to understand the various conditions of climate and fish conditions to ensure the rapid growth of fish.
