Notes on raising ants:

① Choose the right ant species. There are many types of ants. The black spiny ant has been approved by the state as a new food resource. Most of the ant health products sold on the market are made from this ant species. Therefore, you must identify the right ant species when introducing ants.

② Understand the living habits of ants. Generally, before introducing species, you should learn some basic knowledge, understand their living habits such as feeding, nesting, migration, hibernation, etc., then choose a suitable environment and adopt scientific breeding methods. When introducing species, take nests or groups as units to keep the composition of group members intact. Place the ant colony and nest in an open box or cage, cover the opening with ventilated gauze, put wet soil on the bottom of the container to maintain humidity, and throw a small amount of mealworms, bran and other food.

③ Master scientific breeding techniques. Backyard breeding is suitable for small-scale family breeding and early breeding of introduced species. Another method is to close off the mountains in Masson pine forests and other places to establish breeding bases. This method is suitable for large-scale breeding.

④ Reasonably control the scale of development. Ant farming should be adapted to local conditions and developed steadily. Beginners should not introduce too many species. Generally, 5 to 10 nests should be introduced for trial breeding. After becoming familiar with the habits of ants, mastering their activity patterns and breeding techniques, the scale can be gradually expanded.
