How to implement the direct merging method of bee colonies?

This method is suitable for bee colonies during the honey flow period and before early spring display; it is also suitable for bee colonies in late autumn and before wintering. When merging, put the queenless bees and their honeycombs outside the partition of another beehive in the evening, so that the honeycombs of the two colonies are about 5 cm apart, and then spray light smoke, honey water, sorghum wine and other substances on the two colonies to mix the colony smells, and then put the honeycombs of the two colonies together the next day. If there is no biting, the merger is considered successful, and adjustments can be made after the bee colonies are stable and activities are normal for 2 to 3 days.

How to implement the direct merging method for merging bee colonies?

It is used during the honey flow period and in early spring and late autumn when the temperature is low and the bees are less active. The usual practice is to first place the honeycombs of one group on one side of the beehive, and then bring the honeycombs of the bees to be merged to the other side, keeping a frame distance between them, or place them outside the partition, and then bring the honeycombs of the two groups together the next day. To be on the safe side, spray some thin honey (sugar) water on the honeycombs of the two groups, or spray a few times with smoke to mix the smell of the two groups, so as to achieve the purpose of safe merging. During the wintering period and early spring, there are no bees in the nest. When the weather is cold, put the two groups of bees together directly, and they will not bite each other.
